Heart and determination are two words that accurately describe the girl’s Basketball Team at Indian Hills. Led by senior captains Lindsay Rock, Jill Hochuli, and Kerianne Pacheco, the Braves are full of intensity from the moment they walk on the court to the final second of the game, when the buzzer goes off. This hard work has created a sisterhood and friendship between players, and so, regardless of the score at the end of the day, each girl is there to help raise spirits.
The current record of the Lady Braves stands at 1 win to 6 losses, but this slight speed has not hindered team morale. In fact, it inspired the girls to work even harder in order to prove to the Big North League and each other that they have the talent and love for basketball needed to have a successful and progressive season.
In honor of Head Coach, Kim Tanis, the Braves also took part in the Park Ridge’s Third Annual Breast Cancer challenge on Saturday January 8th, 2011. The tournament was designed to spread Breast Cancer awareness and education to all women. Kim Tanis was honored at the tournament, and was the MVP speaker. Tanis spoke to each team that took part in the challenge and shared her story of battling Breast Cancer and how important it is for young girls to know the seriousness of Breast Cancer.
The camaraderie and heart the Braves possess will allow them to go far this season. Come out and support the girls as they embark on a challenging week as they face off against Ramsey, Englewood, and Demarest.
