It’s Hunting Season

Posted by spoon On February - 1 - 2011 ADD COMMENTS

On Friday January 28, over 600 fans crowded into the Ice Vault in Wayne, NJ to watch the Indian Hills Braves upset the favorite, the Ramapo Raiders, in an exciting second match-up of the season for the two teams. While this game did not draw as many spectators as the pre-Christmas game earlier in the season, students still packed the stands to cheer on their team.

After the first two periods, the two teams were tied 0-0. While Ramapo out shot Indian Hills throughout the game, neither team dominated the other overall. Indian Hills team members clearly came out well-prepared, learning from their mistakes in the 5-1 loss to Ramapo earlier in the season. The Indian Hills hockey team was ready to put up a good fight against Ramapo, and that is exactly what it did.

Late in the third period as the clock ticked down, it seemed like the two teams would end in a tie. But finally, with 2:49 to go, Trevor L. crossed the puck to T.J. T. who put it away in the back of the net. The Braves side of the bleachers went crazy, leaving Ramapo fans in a state of shock. Braves supporters continued to gain hope with every tick of the clock until with ten seconds left, they began to count down, and the Indian Hills Braves completed an astonishing upset over its rival, Ramapo High School.

Indian Hills Swimming Season Comes To a Close

The Indian Hills Swim season is coming to a close. The team has two meets left, one on Tuesday, February 1, and one on Thursday, February 3. Both the boys and the girls had a fun season, keeping in mind that it’s not always about winning, but having fun too! They worked very hard and even gave up Friday nights to practice every week. While their records were not as good as they have been in the past, everyone put in 100% effort, and this effort showed through since there were a lot of close meets.  The seniors are all very sad to see the season coming to a close and will miss the team very much next year. Coach Hausch, new assistant coach this year, was a great asset and was welcomed by everyone on the team. He showed his hard work and dedication at every practice and meet by cheering us on despite the score. Coach Bryan is indescribable-simply the best! Our season was filled with laughter, cheering, ninja games, bus raves, and was overall very successful. The underclassmen can’t wait for next year, and the seniors can’t wait to come back next year and cheer on the 2011/2012 team!

The boys and girls winter track and field teams have had an exciting indoor season so far. Both the boys and girls teams have been working extremely hard throughout the season and their efforts are surely paying off! Since Indian Hills does not have an indoor track, our meets are located at different facilities. Even though some are far away, it is definitely worth the trip to come out in support of the track teams and show that Braves spirit!

Indian Hills Bowling

By: Steven T.

In the past weeks, the Indian Hills Braves Bowling team has been fighting its way through the season taking some hits, but team members are also giving out their fair share of hits. Our top bowlers this year are Jerry A. and Andrew W. They keep our team together bowling in the one and five spot. Two newcomers this year include senior Pat “Ice” M. and freshman Graham “Cracker” M., who are doing a great job in the two and four spot. Finally, we have Ronny W. who holds it all together in the third spot. After a clear victory over River Dell during week 6 (Braves scoring +1000) it leaves us with a record of 4-3. There are still seven more matches before the season is over so come out and support the Braves at Holiday Bowl in Oakland!
